Newfrontiers

York City Church is not linked with one of the mainline denominations in the UK, but we do belong to a worldwide family of churches called Newfrontiers. Newfrontiers is a movement that plants, or establishes, new churches in response to Jesus commission to the first disciples (see Matthew 28) and in recognition that "mission" in the New Testament (and in particular the book of Acts) is largely focussed on the establishment of communities of believers in every nation of the world.

As a church we relate to the numerous Newfrontiers churches in Yorkshire and the Northeast with regular, large celebration meetings and the annual North weekend in North Yorkshire. On a wider scale, the Together On A Mission conference in Brighton each year gathers thousands of leaders from within Newfrontiers and beyond, and Newday is the six thousand strong annual Newfrontiers youth event in the midlands.

Leadership

We believe that the bible is clear about churches being led by a team of Elders rather than one "professional" clergyman. The Elders at York City Church are Alan Rose, James Bailey, Martin Hoggart, Peter Roderick and Christiaan Bredenkamp. Alan is employed full-time by City Church and a number of others work part-time on various aspects of the church’s ministry.

In a growing church there are many other leaders carrying various amounts of responsibility in the life of the church. They are far too many to mention here, but they fulfil important and strategic roles in the life of York City Church.

Kids

Yazzmin Wild leads our team of volunteers who run our two Sunday morning Kids groups - the 3-7 year olds and the 8-10 year olds. Each week your kids will have great fun in a safe environment and learn more about the God who loves them.

A supervised créche area equipped with toys is available for children under the age of 3. If you are visiting us you are welcome to leave your child in the créche whilst you stay in for teaching or if you prefer you can stay with them.

Mums and Tots

Mums & Tots is a fortnightly supervised playgroup & coffee morning for parents and children up to school age. Each week the children have time to play, make a craft and enjoy a drink & snack with their friends.

We are a very friendly group and we have play helpers each week who facilitate the playtime & craft activity with the children so parents can have a chance to chat & enjoy some coffee and cake. We meet on alternate Thursday mornings from 10am-11.30am in Trinity Methodist Church, Monkgate. (Next to the NHS drop-in centre)
Admission is free & all are welcome.

Come and join us for coffee, cake & playtime!me!
